Carmen is the tragic opera of a saucy seductress and soldier destroyed by love and obsession in George Bizet’s masterpiece. Its familiar melodies depict Seville, its dashing matadors and lusty women and the inevitable destruction of the gypsy Carmen and her Don Jose in a whirlpool of passion, defiance, despair and betrayal.
